Prince William and Kate, the Princess of Wales, enjoyed a day of celebration as they attended a polo match close to their Windsor home. The event, called the Out-Sourcing Inc. Royal Charity Polo Cup, was held at the Guards Polo Club in Windsor Great Park. The match took place a day after the royal couple attended the King’s coronation celebration in Scotland.
Prince William displayed his skills on the field and scored the winning goal, leading his team, US Polo Assn, to victory. After the match, Kate congratulated her husband with a kiss and gave him the thumbs up. Sporting a new Beulah London dress, a blue Mulberry handbag, and sunglasses, the Princess of Wales watched the game from the side lines, sipping champagne and chatting with other guests, including Prince William’s cousin Peter Philips.
The charity polo match raised over one million British pounds, which will benefit 11 charities supported by Prince William and Kate. The funds will be directed towards organizations such as Shout, Wales Air Ambulance, Centrepoint, and The Passage. The money will also support Mountain Rescue England & Wales, Foundling Museum, Forward Trust, East Anglia Children’s Hospices, and three baby charities supported by the Princess: Baby Basics, Little Village, and AberNecessities.
This annual tournament has been a significant fundraising event since Prince William’s first participation in 2006. Over the years, it has generated more than £12 million (approximately $23 million) for charitable causes. The continued success of the tournament demonstrates the royal couple’s commitment to making a positive impact on society.
Before attending the polo match, Prince William and Kate joined King Charles and Queen Camilla in Scotland. They attended a Service of Thanksgiving and Dedication at St Giles’ Cathedral in honor of the King’s coronation. For the occasion, the Princess of Wales wore a blue coatdress by Catherine Walker, matching the color of the Scottish flag. She accessorized with a pearl and diamond choker that once belonged to Queen Elizabeth II. The couple also had the opportunity to witness a flypast of the Red Arrows from the forecourt of the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
