Union Minister Inaugurates New Stoppage at Rasipuram Railway Station
The Rasipuram Railway Station witnessed a momentous occasion on Thursday as Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, L. Murugan, inaugurated a new stoppage at the station. The move aims to enhance connectivity and convenience for the residents of Rasipuram and surrounding areas.
Under the experimental initiative, three train services have been provided stoppage at the Rasipuram Railway Station. These include the Rameswaram-Okha-Rameswaram (train no. 16733/16734) weekly express trains, the MGR Chennai Central-Palakkad (train no. 22651) daily express train, and the Nagercoil-SMVT Bengaluru (train no. 17236) daily express. This development is expected to greatly benefit the local population by providing them easy access to train services.
To mark the inauguration, Mr. Murugan flagged off the Okha-Rameswaram (train no. 16734) weekly express. The ceremony was attended by Salem Divisional Railway Manager, Pankaj Kumar Sinha, who honored the dignitaries present.
During the event, the dignitaries expressed their gratitude to the railways for introducing the new stoppage and suggested that more trains should halt at Rasipuram and Namakkal. They also emphasized the need for enhanced passenger amenities at the Rasipuram Railway Station, particularly the installation of more lifts. This would further contribute to the convenience and comfort of commuters.
In addition to the stoppage inauguration, Union Minister Murugan also inaugurated an One Station, One Product (OSOP) stall at the Rasipuram Railway Station. This initiative aims to promote locally produced goods and create opportunities for the local economy. The stall showcases Rasipuram’s specialty, ghee, offering passengers the chance to experience and purchase local produce.
The event saw the participation of Namakkal MP A.K.P. Chinraj, S. Karthikeyan, Senior Divisional Engineer (Coordination), M. Boopathiraja, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Anith Prakash, Senior Divisional Operations Manager, along with other railway officials and staff.
The introduction of the new stoppage at Rasipuram Railway Station is a significant step towards improving connectivity and accessibility for the residents of the region. The provision of more train services and enhanced passenger amenities will alleviate the commuting woes of the local population.
