Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray is set to undertake a tour of Maharashtra in order to strengthen the party’s base ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha and assembly elections. Thackeray recently held a meeting at his residence, Matoshree, in Bandra East, where he discussed the current political crisis in the state and urged party MPs, MLAs, and leaders to start preparing for the elections.
During the meeting, the party’s spokesperson, Bhaskar Jadhav, revealed that Thackeray will soon finalize the details of his tour program to visit various regions of Maharashtra. The objective of the tour will be to consolidate the party’s position and rally support in the face of the ongoing political turmoil.
Additionally, Thackeray expressed his support for the implementation of a Uniform Civil Code (UCC), clarifying that there has been no change in the party’s stance on the matter. However, he emphasized that the party will not blindly support the UCC draft unless it is properly released and evaluated.
Furthermore, it was announced that the next meeting of opposition parties will take place in Bengaluru on July 17 and 18. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi personally reached out to Thackeray and extended an invitation for him to attend the gathering.
To gain a better understanding of the situation in their respective constituencies, Thackeray is scheduled to meet with former MLAs on Wednesday. This will provide an opportunity for him to gather valuable insights and feedback from party members and local leaders.
In light of recent events, Thackeray also sought the opinions of those present regarding whether the party should continue its alliance with the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). Following discussions, it was unanimously agreed that the party should continue its support for the MVA in the current scenario.
As the preparations for elections intensify, Thackeray’s forthcoming tour of Maharashtra will undoubtedly play a crucial role in solidifying the Shiv Sena’s presence across the state. By engaging with party members and leaders at the grassroots level, Thackeray aims to strengthen the party’s foundation and ensure a formidable performance in both the Lok Sabha and assembly elections.
