Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has announced a partnership with Indian manufacturer VVDN Technologies to start manufacturing high-volume servers in India. The move comes as part of HPE’s commitment to the Make in India initiative and its goal to make India a global hub for Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM).

Under this partnership, HPE plans to manufacture approximately USD 1 billion worth of high-runner servers in India within the first five years of production. The manufacturing operation will be based in Manesar, Haryana, and will cater to the growing demand from customers in India while also strengthening and diversifying HPE’s global supply chain.

The decision to manufacture in India highlights HPE’s dedication to the country and its belief in its potential as a USD 1 trillion digital economy. By producing locally, HPE aims to better serve the needs of customers across various industries and segments, ranging from startups to SMBs to enterprise and government entities.

The announcement was made after a meeting between senior executives from HPE and VVDN Technologies and Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Minister for Communications, Electronics, and Information Technology. During the meeting, details of the manufacturing initiative were shared, and Vaishnaw expressed his enthusiasm for HPE’s decision to begin production in India.

The partnership with VVDN Technologies is a significant milestone for HPE and aligns with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent State visit to the US. The Indian government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme 2.0, which aims to bolster domestic manufacturing capacities, further supports HPE’s decision to establish its manufacturing line in India.

India holds strategic importance for HPE, not only as a market for its products but also as a source of talent and innovation. With its largest workforce outside the US based in India, HPE recognizes the country’s potential for growth and development in the digital era.

Antonio Neri, President and CEO of HPE, emphasized the company’s commitment to India and how this new manufacturing operation reinforces it. He stated that India is a crucial market for HPE’s edge-to-cloud strategy, and the manufacturing facility will not only cater to local demand but also contribute to the government’s vision of a self-reliant India.

HPE’s decision to manufacture high-end servers in India attests to the maturity and capabilities of the country’s electronics manufacturing industry. It is a testament to the progress India has made in establishing itself as a global manufacturing hub.

In conclusion, HPE’s partnership with VVDN Technologies to manufacture high-volume servers in India marks a significant step towards India’s goal of becoming a leading player in Electronics System Design and Manufacturing. With its Make in India initiative and the support of the government, India is poised to become a global manufacturing powerhouse.
