The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Maharashtra has disqualified nine rebel MLAs, including Ajit Pawar, for engaging in anti-party activities. The move comes after the MLAs were sworn in as ministers in the Shinde-Fadnavis government. In response, the NCP has submitted a disqualification petition against the MLAs to Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar. Additionally, NCP leader Praful Patel announced that Lok Sabha MP Sunil Tatkare has been appointed as the new state president of the party in Maharashtra. Ajit Pawar has been unanimously elected as the leader of the legislature party.

The NCP served a letter to the disqualified MLAs stating that their defections were done without the knowledge or consent of the Party President, which amounts to desertion and invites disqualification. In a surprising twist, party chief Sharad Pawar removed NCP vice president Praful Patel and MP Sunil Tatkare from the party for indulging in anti-party activities.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar clarified during a joint press conference that Sharad Pawar remains the party’s national president. He also mentioned that they have sent an application to the Maharashtra Assembly Speaker to disqualify Jayant Patil and Jitendra Awhad. Praful Patel announced that Jayant Patil will be relieved of his responsibilities, and Sunil Tatkare will be appointed as the Maharashtra President of the Nationalist Congress Party with the authority to make organizational changes.

This series of events unfolded after Ajit Pawar and eight other NCP leaders joined the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance in Maharashtra. Ajit Pawar assured that the party will continue to function effectively. However, Sharad Pawar expressed his concern about the future of those who left the party, stating that it was not a small matter but a robbery.

Following the new political developments, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Yadav criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of dismantling the democratic character of the country. He praised Sharad Pawar’s strength and power, mentioning that Modi’s attempts to shake him will fail.

In conclusion, the NCP has disqualified nine rebel MLAs for engaging in anti-party activities, while Sharad Pawar removed two party leaders from their positions. These political shifts have sparked discussions and reactions from various leaders, highlighting the ongoing changes in Maharashtra politics.
