Ukraine, Spain, England, and Israel have secured their spots in the Olympic football tournament with their progress in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship. In the last quarter-final match held in Romania, Ukraine displayed an impressive comeback to defeat France 3-1.

Georgiy Sudakov emerged as the star of the match, scoring twice to overturn France’s initial lead. After Bradley Barcola set up Rayan Cherki to open the scoring, Ukraine rallied before halftime, led by Mykhailo Mudryk orchestrating their resurgence. Mudryk’s penetration into the French defense resulted in a penalty, which Sudakov confidently converted. Later, Mudryk’s accurate pass found Sudakov again, giving Ukraine the lead. They maintained control of the game during the second half and sealed their victory with a late goal from Artem Bondarenko.

In a separate intense quarter-final clash in Kutaisi, Georgia, England secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Portugal. Anthony Gordon’s clinical finish, assisted by Morgan Gibbs White, proved to be the decisive goal. Despite facing pressure from Portugal throughout the second half, England’s strong defensive display, led by goalkeeper James Trafford, ensured their perfect tournament record remained intact. Notably, England is not represented by a separate Olympic football team.

The upcoming semi-final clash between England and Israel will be a rematch of their group stage encounter. England emerged victorious in that match, securing a 2-0 win. Ukraine, on the other hand, will face Spain in the other semi-final clash, scheduled to take place in Bucharest.

With their qualification for the final four, Ukraine, Spain, and Israel have also secured berths in the football tournament at the 2024 Paris Games. However, England’s qualification for the Olympics depends on their performance in the upcoming semi-final clash against Israel.

This thrilling tournament has showcased the impressive skills and determination of these young football talents. Fans can expect exciting matches in the semi-finals as the teams vie for a place in the tournament’s final and a chance to represent their countries on the Olympic stage.

The journey to secure Olympic qualification has been filled with intense battles and unforgettable moments. Ukraine, Spain, England, and Israel have put on exceptional performances, and now all eyes are on the upcoming semi-finals as the teams fight for their spot in the final. Fans can expect nothing short of thrilling football as these talented young players continue to showcase their skills and strive for Olympic glory.
