Former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi’s public meeting in Khammam, Telangana, is facing hurdles from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government, according to the Congress party. Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, a former MP set to join the Congress party at the event, has alleged that the ruling party is creating obstacles by seizing private vehicles hired to transport people to the meeting. The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has also reportedly refused to provide buses for the event. Despite these challenges, the Congress party remains confident that the public meeting will be a success.
Srinivasa Reddy expressed his determination to defy the ruling party’s attempts and urged supporters to peacefully gather in large numbers. He believes that the public meeting will mark the beginning of the downfall of the BRS and Chief Minister KCR.
The Congress party has made extensive preparations for the event, which will see Srinivasa Reddy and his supporters officially join the party. The meeting will also conclude the ‘people’s march’ led by Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka. Congress leaders hope that the event will rejuvenate the party and boost its chances of winning power in the state.
Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to arrive at Gannavaram airport in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, from New Delhi in the afternoon. He will then travel to Khammam by helicopter, with the public meeting scheduled to begin around 4 p.m.
Despite heavy rain the previous night, Congress leaders believe it will not impact the event’s proceedings. They are hopeful that the weather will cooperate for the scheduled public meeting in the evening.
