Himachal Pradesh Minister Vikramaditya Singh has extended his support to the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), stating that no one should feel that the law is against them. Singh clarified that the final decision on the UCC would be made by the Congress party, and he would stand by their decision. He emphasized that the Congress party has always represented all segments of Indian society and believes in the uniformity of diversity.

Singh further stated that before implementing any law, there must be a strong consensus building amongst all parties concerned. He also urged the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to take all sections of society on board and ensure that no one feels marginalized or excluded by any such law.

As the son of Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Pratibha Singh and late Chief Minister Virbhadhra Singh, Vikramaditya Singh affirmed that the Congress party represents all regions, castes, and segments of Indian society. He highlighted that the Constitution of India is also the constitution of the Congress party, which has continuously worked towards strengthening various areas of the country since Independence.

Singh questioned why the BJP is raising the issue of the UCC before the elections, pointing out that the ruling party could have brought a bill on the matter earlier, considering their majority in the Lok Sabha. He accused the BJP of trying to divert attention from real issues such as inflation, unemployment, and the situation in Manipur.

Former Chief Minister and BJP leader Jai Ram Thakur applauded Vikramaditya Singh’s support for the UCC. Thakur expressed his belief that a uniform law would be in the interest of the nation and society as a whole.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also advocated for a Uniform Civil Code, making a strong pitch for it during a gathering of BJP workers in Bhopal. The Law Commission recently reopened its exercise on the UCC by seeking public views and ideas on the proposal.

Himachal Pradesh Agriculture Minister Chander Kumar clarified that Singh’s views on the UCC were his personal opinion and that the party would take a collective stance on the issue. Kumar criticized the BJP for attempting to divert people’s attention from the real issues affecting them.

In summary, Himachal Pradesh Minister Vikramaditya Singh has extended his support to the Uniform Civil Code, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that no one feels marginalized by any such law. He has called for consensus building amongst all parties concerned, while also highlighting that the Congress party represents all sections of Indian society. The BJP has welcomed Singh’s support for the UCC, stating that it aligns with the national and societal interests. However, the final decision on the UCC will depend on the Congress party.
