Assam Police Arrest Cyber Criminal, Recover 458 SIM Cards

In a significant operation against cybercriminals and a fake SIM card racket, Assam Police have arrested a man from Morigaon district. A total of 458 SIM cards were recovered from the accused’s possession, as he is allegedly involved in cyber-related crimes.

The arrested individual has been identified as Abul Kasem. The police conducted a search operation in the Kacharibori area, acting on secret information. During the operation, Abul Kasem was apprehended, and 458 SIM cards were discovered at his residence.

Authorities had previously apprehended three mobile SIM card retailers who were found in possession of 238 SIM cards and some related documents. In their investigations, it was revealed that the SIM cards were acquired using the photograph of an individual named Inamul Hoque. This discovery prompted the recent operation that led to Abul Kasem’s arrest.

Besides the SIM cards, the police seized other items such as PAN cards and driving licenses from the premises. It is suspected that Abul Kasem’s brother may also be involved in this illicit activity, although he was not present during the raid. Numerous SIM cards were obtained using fraudulent documents.

The police suspect that these individuals may be associated with cyber fraud cases, wherein loans were acquired from various apps using counterfeit documents. Samiran Baishya, Additional Superintendent of Police, stated that further investigations are underway to ascertain the full extent of their criminal activities.

This successful operation highlights the Assam Police’s commitment to combating cybercrime and curbing the proliferation of fake SIM cards. By cracking down on such illegal activities, law enforcement agencies aim to protect innocent individuals and prevent cyber-related fraud and scams.

It is commendable to see the police taking such proactive measures and making substantial strides in the fight against cybercrime. This operation serves as a warning to those involved in such criminal activities that law enforcement agencies are determined to bring them to justice.

Assam Police’s continuous efforts against cybercriminals are instrumental in maintaining a secure cyberspace for citizens. With the help of these operations, individuals engaging in cyber-related crimes will be apprehended, ensuring the safety and well-being of the public.

It is crucial for all citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. By working together, we can create a safer and more secure digital environment for everyone.
