The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a supplementary chargesheet in the YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case, naming new suspects and expanding the investigation. The chargesheet includes Avinash Reddy, the father of Kadapa MP Avinash Reddy, among the suspects. Avinash Reddy was granted anticipatory bail on May 31 and has been attending questioning by the CBI as required. The gruesome murder of former minister Vivekananda Reddy, who was the uncle of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, shocked the state. Vivekananda Reddy was found dead with stab injuries at his home in Pulivendula on March 15, 2019, shortly before the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
The new suspects mentioned in the chargesheet are Uday Kumar Reddy, YS Bhasker Reddy, Viveka’s personal assistant MV Krishna Reddy, and Yedula Prakash. The accused who were already in judicial remand, including Y Gangireddy, Yadati Sunil Yadav, Gajjala Uma Shankar Reddy, and D Siva Shankar Reddy, were produced before the court, and their judicial custody was extended until July 14. Accused No 4, Shaik Dastagiri, who has turned approver, was absent from the court during the hearings.
