Trinamool Congress MP Shatrughan Sinha has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government of using central agencies to harass the opposition. Sinha claimed that this was a desperate attempt for revenge before the BJP goes out of power. He specifically mentioned that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) recently summoned TMC youth president Saayoni Ghosh in connection with the Bengal teacher recruitment scam. Ghosh was interrogated by the ED for 11 hours.

Sinha criticized the BJP for bringing up the issue of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) to divert attention from important matters like unemployment and inflation. He accused them of playing vote bank politics and said that the UCC had become a topic of discussion ahead of the elections in Madhya Pradesh. Sinha referred to the failure of previous governments to implement the UCC. He mentioned that the Supreme Court had urged the government to bring the common code but no action had been taken.

PM Narendra Modi’s recent remarks on the UCC sparked a nationwide debate, with opposition leaders accusing him of raising the issue for political gain. Sinha believes that the BJP’s focus on the UCC is a tactic to distract people from pressing issues. He criticized the government for not passing the women’s reservation Bill and accused them of conveniently bringing up the UCC during election time.

Overall, Sinha condemns the BJP’s alleged harassment of opposition parties through central agencies and sees it as a desperate attempt to seek revenge before the BJP’s power diminishes. He believes that the BJP’s focus on the UCC is a ploy to divert attention from critical issues. Sinha’s comments highlight the ongoing tensions and political strategies employed in the run-up to the elections.
