Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has criticized Delhi’s Lieutenant-Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena over the city’s law and order situation. Kejriwal accused the central government of having no concrete plan to improve the law and order situation in Delhi. He spoke out after a broad daylight robbery took place near Pragati Maidan, during which Rs 2 lakh were stolen. Kejriwal demanded the resignation of LG, saying that he should make way for someone who can provide safety and security to the people of Delhi. Give us law and order, we will make it the safest city, he said.
Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena called a review meeting to discuss the law and order situation in the city. Police have apprehended two people in connection with the robbery incident. According to the police, the other suspects have been identified, and raids are being conducted to arrest them.
CCTV footage of the incident has been circulating on social media, leading Kejriwal to call for the LG’s resignation. The chief minister also urged the central government to hand over the responsibility of making Delhi a safe city to his administration.
The robbery took place in the Pragati Maidan area where G20 meetings will be held. Kejriwal said there was a jungle raj in the city and accused the central government of treating a meeting as a mere formality. The incident has once again brought the issue of Delhi’s safety to the forefront. The city has a long-standing reputation for being unsafe for women, with several cases of sexual harassment and assault being reported every day.
The incident highlights the need for better law and order in the national capital, with several officials calling for urgent action to be taken. Improving the city’s law and order situation can only be achieved if the central government and the state government work together to find a lasting solution. It remains to be seen what steps will be taken following this incident to ensure the safety of Delhi’s citizens.
