Sterlite Technologies Ltd (STL), a renowned optical and digital solutions company, has announced the successful implementation of an advanced communication system for the Kochi Water Metro project in the Indian state of Kerala. The project aims to connect ten island communities in Kochi to the mainland using 78 eco-friendly battery-operated electric hybrid boats that operate along 16 routes, covering a distance of 76km. With Neox Unified Communications solution, STL has made it possible for 145 internal users and ten helpdesk executives from 38 jetties, one boatyard, and one operations control center to communicate seamlessly with each other, as well as with external stakeholders such as staff and citizens.

Neox Unified Communication solution is equipped with cutting-edge technology such as IP telephony, automatic call distribution (ACD), contact center, centralized voice recording module (CVR), and interactive voice response (IVR) that enables system-wide calling and integration with VHF radios and PA systems across the jetties. The platform will boost the efficiency of the water taxi service through an analytical dashboard and enhance the maintenance and operation of the entire system.

According to Sanjay Sahani, India Sales Head at STL, the implementation of Neox Unified Communication software marks a significant milestone in the company’s pursuit of transforming billions of lives by connecting the world. By allowing the Kochi Water Metro system to operate on world-class infrastructure, STL has supported a green and sustainable transportation system that will have a positive impact on trade, commerce, and social interaction.

With the successful integration of a seamless communication system, the Kochi Water Metro project will open up new opportunities for the Kochi community while also contributing to environmental preservation. The innovative transport solution marks a significant achievement in greener and more efficient transport models, and STL is proud to play a key role in this initiative.

In conclusion, the successful implementation of the Neox Unified Communication system by STL for the Kochi Water Metro project in Kerala marks a significant milestone in the transportation industry. The system will boost efficiency, improve maintenance, and enable seamless communication among stakeholders, presenting new opportunities for trade and commerce across the Kochi region. The initiative sets a benchmark for sustainable, eco-friendly water taxi services, and STL is thrilled to be at the forefront of this vital phase in transportation history.
