BLACKSBURG, Va. – A Virginia Tech professor is utilizing computer games to enhance cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Despite being primarily associated with leisure, computer games serve as an effective training ground for AI to develop decision-making skills, handle uncertainty, and engage in complex interactions. Professor Angelos Stravrous is leading this innovative approach by incorporating a multi-agent training exerciser (MATrEx) to amplify AI’s contributions to cybersecurity defenses. Through simulated attacks and defense strategies within MATrEx, AI agents are honing their abilities to outsmart potential cyber threats. This initiative aims not only to advance AI’s gaming capabilities but also to support experiential learning for students in the cybersecurity realm at the Virginia Tech Innovation Campus. With a strategic focus on AI development through practical applications, Professor Stravrous envisions a future where human-AI collaborations strengthen cybersecurity measures across various platforms.
