Imagine the horror when you realise your takeaway has ended up at the wrong house, and you’re left in a mad dash to salvage your food so you can get munching.

And if you accidentally get someone else’s dinner order at your doorstep, you’d sort it out for them, wouldn’t you?

Well not everyone would apparently, as one bloke was dumbfounded when his cheeky neighbours scoffed his £40 Indian feast after it was dropped off by mistake.

Revealing his story on X (formerly Twitter), user @FPLMate said: Ordered £40 worth of Indian food and it was delivered to our neighbour by mistake.

He rapped on their door hoping to claim his feast, only to find them wolfing it down. He added: Knocked on the neighbour’s door to see if they had it, and they had already started eating it. I’m dumbfounded by this. Do people just accept and eat other people’s food??? Is this normal???

In the heated thread, some bloke called it wild, seething: I’d be fuming. While another had a giggle: No way! Did they invite you in to eat with them?

Another gobsmacked person wanted a follow-up, adding: I need to know the outcome here. Did they attempt to give it back half-eaten? What on earth did you say?

The bloke who lost his curry to the neighbours blasted: No they didn’t. Honestly, I didn’t know what to say. I’m so confused by this whole situation I thought maybe I was the weird one for always refusing to accept mistaken deliveries.

And he’s now plotting revenge, saying he may sling a full portion of tikka masala sauce right over their door.

Delving deeper into the chat, the person who kicked off the discussion wrote: Thank you to everyone who has validated that this is not normal. I feel much better now. In other news, it looks like I will need to relocate to a new neighbourhood to avoid future awkwardness.
