A three-member fact-finding committee headed by former Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan reached Bhopal on Saturday to review the defeat of the Congress in the Lok Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh.
The committee, including leaders Saptagiri Ulaka and Jignesh Mevani, will hold meetings over the weekend with Congress candidates from the recent elections. The party failed to secure any of the 29 parliamentary seats in the state.
MP Congress president Jitu Patwari emphasized the need to diagnose and accept the reasons for the party’s poor performance in recent polls, stating that organizational changes would follow based on the committee’s findings.
The ongoing review is set to continue on July 5 and 6, inviting state assembly candidates and MLAs for further discussions. District and block presidents will also be part of the assessments to strategize on strengthening the party’s standing.
The Congress aims to build stronger connections with the public to counter what they describe as BJP’s anarchy in the state.
