Police in Kanpur Dehat district in Uttar Pradesh have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against several leaders of Hindutva organizations, including Bajrang Dal and Vishva Hindu Parishad, for allegedly demolishing a wall of an under-construction building and causing chaos. The incident took place in Banar Alipur’s Shahzadpur village under Akbarpur Police Station area. The FIR claimed that leaders of right-wing outfits destroyed the makeshift tin-shed boundary, newly constructed walls, as well as damaging furniture and other infrastructure.
A Bajrang Dal leader defended the group’s actions, claiming the church was constructed without obtaining prior permission and the authorities failed to act.
It is unclear at this time if any arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
The incident has raised concerns about the role of Hindutva outfits in matters of religion and construction. As the political landscape in the country becomes increasingly polarized, such actions have the potential to inflame tensions and cause further unrest.
This is not the first case of this kind, as Hindutva organizations have been accused of similar incidents in the past.
