OpenAI has launched a special version of ChatGPT for universities and educational institutions. Dubbed as ChatGPT Edu, the artificial intelligence (AI) tool comes powered by the company’s latest GPT-4o.
ChatGPT Edu offers enterprise-level security and controls, providing advanced AI tools for universities. The tool aims to bring AI to campuses at scale, offering features such as model and web responses, chart creation, vision capabilities, file upload, and memory usage.
According to a report by The Verge, custom GPTs are now accessible for free ChatGPT users, albeit limited to browsing. Premium features previously exclusive to ChatGPT Plus users are now available, including data analytics, chart creation, vision capabilities, file upload, memory usage, and custom GPTs.
The availability of ChatGPT Edu marks a significant step in harnessing AI technology for educational purposes. Kyle Bowen of Arizona State University emphasized the transformative potential of integrating OpenAI’s technology into educational frameworks, enabling scalable and collaborative learning opportunities for students and faculty members alike.
