Google’s AI Provides Bizarre Answers Due to Misunderstood Search Queries, US

The strange and often inaccurate answers that Google’s application of artificial intelligence has shown in its search engine in recent weeks were not a hallucination but were typically a misunderstood search query. Google also says that not much information can be searched at all. In a blog post, Google responds to recent social media posts about the new AI Overview feature, shown off during the I/O Developers Conference. AI Overview is a feature where artificial intelligence attempts to provide answers to queries at the top of search results. Strange results have appeared recently, including advising people with depression to jump off a bridge or recommending staring at the sun for fifteen minutes. Google acknowledges that other illogical answers appear due to limited data available on the internet, sarcastic or troll-like content in forums, and misinterpretation of language. While admitting flaws, Google denies that the AI Overview results were a hallucination and emphasizes the need for more substantial information to provide accurate answers.
