ChargePoint (NYSE: CHPT) and Airbnb Inc. (NASDAQ: ABNB) have joined forces in a groundbreaking partnership to meet the increasing demand for electric vehicle (EV) charging among Airbnb guests. This collaboration aims to simplify the process for Airbnb hosts in the United States to install EV chargers at their properties and enhance accessibility to EV chargers nationwide.
The strategic alliance between ChargePoint and Airbnb will streamline the installation of EV chargers for Airbnb hosts in the U.S., offering a hassle-free and cost-effective solution. With this exclusive package for Airbnb hosts, they can purchase and set up EV charging facilities with ease. This all-inclusive package includes ChargePoint hardware, charger management software, installation, and ongoing support services.
Through this partnership, Airbnb guests will be able to conveniently charge their EVs using the ChargePoint app while staying at Airbnb listings equipped with a ChargePoint charger or at any of the over 917,000 charging locations accessible through the ChargePoint network and roaming partners.
The move comes as EV adoption continues to rise, with data showing that listings with EV chargers tend to attract more bookings and generate higher income compared to those without. Searches for Airbnb listings with EV chargers surged by more than 80% from 2022 to 2023. ChargePoint data further reveals that North American drivers spent over 79 million hours charging at residential settings in 2023.
According to Ameet Konkar, Airbnb’s Director of Sustainability, partnering with ChargePoint will empower hosts to cater to the growing demand for EV chargers among guests.
