Thousands of volunteers united for the 32nd Chicago River Day, dedicated to cleaning up the city’s iconic waterway. Led by Friends of the Chicago River, the nonprofit organized over 2,500 volunteers at 87 locations throughout Chicagoland. Participants diligently picked up trash, from large debris to tiny bits, ensuring proper disposal to protect the ecosystem. Executive Director Margaret Frisbie expressed gratitude for the community’s support, emphasizing the collective effort to keep the entire 156-mile river clean. Through teamwork and dedication, each volunteer contributed to the preservation of the Chicago River, one trash bag at a time.
