The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has condemned the killing of a Sikh man in Peshawar, Pakistan, expressing concern about the ongoing attacks on the minority community. BJP spokesperson RP Singh criticized the Pakistani government for not taking action against these attacks, which have been happening regularly for the past two to three years. Singh called on the central government in India and the Ministry of External Affairs to take notice of the issue.

Manmohan Singh, aged 34, was shot and killed by unknown assailants while traveling in an auto-rickshaw on Saturday evening. Another Sikh man was shot and injured in Peshawar a day earlier. These incidents come in the wake of several other attacks on the Sikh community in Pakistan this year. In May, two members of the community were killed in Peshawar, while in April, Sardar Singh was gunned down in Lahore.

The continuous targeting of Sikhs by militant groups in Pakistan has caused concerns among many people in the country. The so-called liberals, who often speak about minorities’ rights, have remained muted about the attacks in Pakistan, which has drawn Singh’s criticism.

Singh called on those who advocate for minority groups’ rights to speak out against the atrocities against Sikhs in Pakistan. The silence on the issue has sparked worries that the international community is turning a blind eye to the situation.

Although Pakistan has declared itself an Islamic Republic, it is still responsible for protecting its minorities. The government must take urgent action to protect the religious minorities living there from militant groups’ wrath.

The repeated killings of Sikhs in Pakistan show that their security remains at risk, and the government must ensure their safety. The targeting of Sikhs is a cause of concern, and such attacks should not be tolerated. The international community should act to put pressure on the Pakistani government to protect its minority communities from any kind of losing.
