A former El Paso County deputy who went missing for a year was found and arrested in April after lying about having cancer and getting a divorce to solicit money from friends, family, and colleagues. Kevin Sypher, 57, is charged with two felony counts of theft and charitable fraud, along with two misdemeanor counts for misconduct. He allegedly led a double life while married to two women and deceived numerous individuals into believing he was terminally ill to garner financial support. Sypher’s elaborate scheme involved fabricating medical conditions and orchestrating scenarios to manipulate those around him, eventually resulting in his arrest and termination from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office after an extensive investigation revealed the extent of his deception.
