The political tension in Mumbai between the Shiv Sena and the BJP has escalated after Uddhav Thackeray’s challenge to release the Whatsapp chats of BJP Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ family members. In response, BJP leader Mohit Bhartiya has threatened to release videos of Aaditya Thackeray, Shiv Sena member and Uddhav’s son, boozing during the Covid pandemic.
Bhartiya has warned that he has hundreds of videos of the Thackerays’ activities and dared them to accept his challenge. In a tweet, Bhartiya claimed to have videos from Borivali National Park to Bollywood parties, which will expose those who hide their faces. He insisted that he speaks less and works more, and his strike rate is 100%. Bhartiya warned that he would release the videos if Uddhav Thackeray accepts his challenge.
The political mudslinging has caused a stir among Mumbai’s citizens, who are eagerly waiting for the revelations. However, this verbal war has tainted the image of both the Shiv Sena and the BJP, as such personal attacks do not reflect well on either party.
It is essential for political parties to maintain their decorum and uphold their integrity when engaging in political discourse. Bringing family members into a political debate is unnecessary and unacceptable. The focus should be on issues concerning the welfare of the citizens and the development of the state.
The people of Mumbai expect their leaders to address their concerns rather than indulge in petty politics. The politicians should direct their attention to providing relief to the citizens during the pandemic and restoring the city’s normalcy. It is high time that the political parties put an end to such theatrics and engage in a constructive dialogue for the betterment of society.
