Two Kenyan startups join Google’s Ksh 2.6B AI program
Kenya’s Jacaranda Health and EIDU are set to benefit from the Ksh 2.6 billion ($20m) Google Generative AI Accelerator Program. The startups are among 21 African organizations selected for the first Google.org Accelerator: Generative AI Cohort. Google aims to empower social impact teams by leveraging Generative AI to enhance productivity and creativity. Both startups utilize Generative AI for innovative purposes, with Jacaranda Health focusing on expanding digital health services using Natural Language Processing (NLP) and EIDU employing AI for personalized tutoring services in low and middle-income countries. The program aims to provide technical training, workshops, mentorship, and pro bono support to organizations focusing on areas such as climate, economic opportunities, health, education, and crisis response. Dorothy Ooko from Google Africa highlighted the potential of Generative AI to address critical challenges, furthering the impact of these organizations in serving their communities. Other beneficiaries of the program include various impactful organizations dedicated to leveraging AI for positive change.
