The Thoubal district administration in Manipur organized a cleanliness drive on Saturday at the Khongjom War Memorial Complex at Khebaching, about 35 kilometers south of Imphal. The initiative aimed to prepare the historical site for the upcoming State Level Khongjom Day celebration scheduled for April 23. Participants from various line departments engaged in tasks such as grass cutting, trimming bushes, and cleaning water bodies to enhance the appearance of the memorial complex for visitors. Representatives from municipal councils, the Minor Irrigation Department, Water Resource Department, Zonal Education Office, Transport, Forest Division, Thoubal Police, and Fire Service, among others, joined forces to ensure the successful completion of the clean-up exercise. Khongjom Day is observed annually on April 23 to honor the courageous individuals who fought in the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891, commemorated at the Khongjom War Memorial Complex.
