TIRUPATI: Andhra Pradesh Congress committee (APCC) chief YS Sharmila promised to the farmers that their plans upto Rs 2 lakh will be waived if the Congress party comes to power in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
Addressing an impressive roadshow at Srikalahasti in Tirupati district on Sunday, Sharmila accused the ruling YSRCP and the TDP for failing to secure special category status (SCS) for Andhra Pradesh.
Both the regional parties failed to pressurize the BJP led NDA govt in the centre to accord SCS for Andhra Pradesh even though the same was enshrined in the AP reorganization Act. Only the Congress party can do justice for the state and has promised to extend SCS for AP for a span of ten years.
Sharmila stepped up the ante against the ruling party for failing to fulfill numerous promises extended to the people in its manifesto. Thousands of unemployed are languishing without jobs as the job calendar was never implemented by the YSRCP. The ruling party also went back on its promise of filling up 2.3 lakh vacancies in the govt, APCC chief accused.
Ten years have passed since the state was bifurcated but yet Andhra Pradesh doesn’t have a single capital and our YSRCP govt still dreams and promises the people of its plans of establishing three capitals for AP, Sharmila ridiculed.
Stating that both the TDP and the YSRCP govts failed in developing the state during their respective regimes, Sharmila urged the people to give the Congress party an opportunity to bring back the state onto the path of comprehensive development in the next five years.
The APCC chief later addressed roadshows at Satyavedu and Nagari on Saturday. Meanwhile, Congress party sources said Sharmila will hold roadshows at GD Nellore, Palamaner and Puthalapattu assembly constituencies in Chittoor district on Monday.
