Individuals who haven’t linked their PAN (Permanent Account Number) with Aadhaar till now need to be aware of the possibility of facing difficulties in the process. The deadline for mandatory linking of PAN with Aadhaar is set to end on June 30, 2023.
According to a tweet by the Income Tax Department, the demographic mismatch during the PAN-Aadhaar linking process may occur due to discrepancies in the personal details provided on both cards, such as errors in name spellings, date of birth, or changes in gender information.
Those facing demographic mismatches in their PAN-Aadhaar linkage won’t be able to link the two cards. To solve the issue, it is necessary to rectify the mismatch either in your PAN or Aadhaar card.
To help facilitate smooth linking of PAN and Aadhaar, biometric-based authentication has been provided for those with a demographic mismatch, which can be availed at dedicated centers of PAN Service Providers (Protean & UTIITSL). The tweet also offered various methods to rectify the demographic mismatch.
To correct the PAN details, individuals can apply for a correction online or via offline channels, while Aadhaar cardholders can visit a nearby Aadhaar Enrolment Centre for rectifying their demographic mismatch.
It is important for individuals to rectify the demographic mismatch as soon as possible to avoid further delays in the PAN-Aadhaar linkage process. By ensuring demographic details match between both cards, individuals can prevent themselves from encountering any issues in the future.
As the deadline approaches, it is essential to ensure that the PAN-Aadhaar linkage process is completed without any discrepancies.
