Texas A&M Football has received two out-of-state pledges, as 4-star tight end Erik Karner and linebacker Jordan Lockhart committed on June 22, 2019. Karner, from Immaculate Conception in Elmhurst, Illinois, offers excellent blocking ability and impressive body control, making him an excellent addition to the tight end room. Despite offers from other schools such as Iowa State, Florida, and Michigan, Karner was swayed towards the Aggies after his visit on June 16, and committed the following week. Karner ranks 21st among tight ends and 9th overall in the state of Illinois.
Lockhart, a 6′ 3 linebacker from St. John Bosco High School in Los Angeles, is a 4-star recruit ranked 31st among linebackers in the composite rankings. Despite his limited experience, Lockhart is expected to excel at the position and has been recruited since defensive coordinator DJ Durkin was with Ole Miss. He will undoubtedly add depth to the linebacker position if he signs later this cycle.
Since their official visits, the Aggies have been doing remarkably well and have moved up to the 32nd overall rank. The class is rife with potential and poised for another successful recruiting season.
The Aggies are continuing to build towards a strong future with these two new blue chips on their roster. Karner and Lockhart are both incredibly talented, and it’s exciting to see what they’ll bring to the field. With a phenomenal group of recruits, the Aggies are well on their way to becoming a top-ranked team.
