Four individuals in Chungajan were arrested by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) after allegedly being involved in a rail roko protest earlier this month. According to a press release from the assistant security commissioner of RPF, a pick-up van collided with a train on an unauthorized level crossing, resulting in damage to the van. The driver of the van fled the scene, but was subsequently apprehended and charged with offenses under the Railway Act. In response to the incident, local villagers staged a sit-in protest on the railway track, leading to three mail/express trains being detained at different stations. The protesters were later charged with Railway Act violations and presented in a Dimapur court.
