Pictures from the North Wales Pride festival have emerged, featuring an incredible turnout of around 2,000 individuals who attended the annual event in Caernarfon. Hundreds of participants marched through the streets of the historic Gwynedd town, creating an ocean of color and filling up Pool Street. The festival’s organizer, Klaire Tanner, stated that the turnout was unprecedented and was thrilled with how smoothly the festivities had gone. Tanner shared that the event has grown immensely, with significantly more people showing up than the previous year. We’re looking for more volunteers, more people that want to join our committee as well. We want to do the best that we can for North Wales, said Tanner.
Tanner and her team of only seven volunteers run the event, and although they all have their own day jobs, they dedicate their spare time to put on the Pride festival for the community. The day was an incredible success, with happiness, love, and support filling the streets. While speaking to North Wales Live, Tanner explained, We just need to make sure we’re still doing Pride events so that we can continue that momentum. The event brings more attention to the need for equality, and Tanner expressed hope that there will be more events like Pride in the future.
The day was one to remember, and the images showcase how well-attended and joyful the event was. Despite the need for more volunteers for events like North Wales Pride, it’s evident that the turnout and the supportive community of North Wales is there. The pictures reveal a sea of people of varying ages, all coming out to show their pride and support for the LGBTQ+ community in North Wales. Though there is still work to be done to reach true equality, days like this demonstrate that progress is being made.
