A MAN from Salisbury is taking part in the Boat Race on the River Thames.
Ed Bracey, 24, is a student from Teffont Evias, near Salisbury.
He is set to cox the Cambridge crew in the men’s Boat Race on the River Thames in London on Saturday, March 30.
Mr Bracey is a postgraduate student at Cambridge studying for an M.Phil in Economics.
Before studying at Cambridge, he studied Economics at Harvard in the United States. He also competed for the Harvard heavyweight men’s rowing team, coxing them in races against other universities in the US and at international regattas, such as Henley Royal Regatta.

No stranger to the sport, Ed won the Prince Albert Challenge Cup at Henley with a Harvard crew in 2019 and he also won the Harvard Yale race in 2019 with the Harvard Junior Varsity crew.
Both of his parents also coxed at university. Ed’s mother, Vicky, coxed at Oxford for the Women’s Lightweight crew in the 1990 race and Isis the men’s reserve crew in the 1991 Boat Race.
His dad, Andrew, coxed at Cambridge for Goldie, the men’s reserve crew, in the 1990 race and the Cambridge Blue Boat in the men’s Boat Race in 1991.
The Gemini Boat Race 2024 events will begin on Saturday, March 30 with the 78th women’s race at 2.46pm.
Readers will be able to see Ed in action when the 169th men’s race begins at 3.46pm.
