A tragic incident took place in Jhirniya, Khargone district, Madhya Pradesh, where a 17-year-old girl named Asha died due to delay in medical treatment after being bitten by a snake. Asha was bitten by a snake while doing household chores on Friday morning. Her family rushed her to the CHC hospital in Jhirniya, which was about 70 kilometers from the district headquarters. However, Asha did not receive timely medical treatment and passed away later on.

After Asha’s death, her family members and relatives accused the on-duty doctors of delaying the treatment by performing exorcist rituals instead of focusing on medical treatment. A video of the exorcist performing rituals on Asha at the hospital went viral on social media. In the video, Asha could be seen sitting on the bed in the hospital while the exorcist was busy conducting the rituals for around two hours. The hospital staff and doctors did not intervene to stop the exorcist during this time.

According to the information provided, Asha was bitten by the snake at 7:30 am and was immediately taken to the CHC. However, needed medical assistance was not provided in time. After spending a couple of hours at the hospital, Asha was referred to the district hospital at 11 am. Despite the referral, Asha passed away before reaching the hospital.

Asha’s brother Suresh accused the doctors of providing only first aid, which deteriorated Asha’s health condition. Additionally, Asha was not provided with an ambulance despite the fact that an ambulance was provided through MLA funds and was parked in the hospital premises.

However, doctors at the hospital claim that they referred Asha to the district hospital, but her family members refused to allow immediate transportation to the hospital. They also requested that villagers take appropriate precautions during the rainy season and seek medical help immediately if they are bitten by a venomous snake or insect.

The tragic incident has raised questions about the importance of prompt medical assistance during emergencies and focusing on medical treatment over superstitions or exorcism rituals. It is crucial to note that timely medical attention can save lives and families should seek medical assistance first and foremost in such situations.
