Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Here is the revised response:
Students clashed with police at a ‘boycott Israel’ pro-Palestinian march in Bologna on Wednesday.
There were tense moments in Via Indipendenza in Bologna when the march of the collectives – protesting in the city on the occasion of the opening of the academic year of the University of Bologna – advanced towards the police line-up, which repelled the front ranks with shields.
A few batons were also wielded, while from the ranks of the protesters came spitting and insults towards the police officers. The protesters shouted ‘Intifada always will be’ and ‘Unibo you must boycott Israel’.
Several other officers are currently under investigation for the recent heavy-handed policing of a pro-Palestinian protest in Pisa, where teen students were clubbed over the head in footage that shocked Italy and prompted a rare reprimand from President Sergio Mattarella.
