The Government Nursing College in Arunachal Pradesh’s Pasighat has become the first in the Northeastern region to integrate a 5G healthcare system. Backed by Artificial Intelligence (AI), the project has been fully funded and initiated by the North Eastern Council (NEC) and implemented by AMTRON of the Assam government as the hub for all the eight Northeastern states. The NEC Secretary Moses Chalai and Health Minister Alo Libang visited the 5G lab set up at the Pasighat Agriculture College under the Central Agricultural University based in Imphal (Manipur). The 5G applications funded by the NEC are set to transform governance, service delivery, developmental schemes, projects, entrepreneurship, the healthcare sector, and agricultural practices. The team’s objective was to explore how the technology can be used across different sectors and departments.
The government nursing college has successfully implanted 3D AI imaging analysis, AI-based cataract analysis, devices for diabetic retinopathy, mobile AI ECG device, wound infection assessment solution, respiratory assessment solution through AI, and AI drip monitoring systems. Chalai said that the technology, combining 5G, Cloud, and AI, has only just begun and has opened doors for multi-sector and multi-departmental solutions.
Though the applications have been made compatible with 4G for now, the true potential of the tech will be unlocked with the full scope and outcomes of 5G.
The immersion learning in healthcare education through 5G AI-driven technology intervention will transform the healthcare sectors of the Northeastern states, making the initiative a historic day for not just the region but the entire country. NEC is committed to bringing positive impact on various development sectors for the speedy socio-economic development of the region, stated Chalai at the visit.
The integration of the 5G healthcare system in Arunachal Pradesh’s Government Nursing College is a significant step towards improving healthcare facilities in the region. The use of AI technology, coupled with 5G’s high-speed capabilities, will help healthcare professionals provide better diagnoses and treatments. The project is expected to transform service delivery, governance, developmental schemes, projects, entrepreneurship, agriculture, and the healthcare sector. Such a transformation will undoubtedly impact India’s Northeastern region in a positive and meaningful way.
