Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently paid tribute to the founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee, on his 71st death anniversary. The Chief Minister attended the wreath-laying ceremony at the Civil Hospital in Lucknow.
An official statement reveals that BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh, Delhi BJP President Shri Virendra Sachdeva, and other leaders also paid floral tributes to Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee at Shaheedi Park ITO.
The Chief Minister praised Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee’s contribution to the country’s freedom struggle, particularly in saving Bengal from the British and opposing the partition of India. He played an important role in the freedom struggle of India, Yogi Adityanath said. Dr. Mukherjee was also India’s first Minister for Industry and Supply after independence but resigned from the post as he believed that Congress was practicing appeasement politics.
Yogi Adityanath stated that Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee was a Kashmiri nationalist who had sacrificed to save Kashmir and the nation’s unity, opposing Congress’s policy of introducing a permit system and giving separate recognition to the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
He opposed all such policies which were harmful to the unity of the country and national integrity, the Chief Minister added.
This event celebrated the life and legacy of a revered statesman and nationalist leader whose contributions are still remembered today.
