The Cabinet Committee on Security has approved the DRDO’s project to develop the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), a fifth-generation stealth fighter jet. The project, estimated at around Rs 15,000 crore, aims to design and develop the aircraft along with its technologies in partnership with private and public sector agencies. The AMCA project is expected to create numerous job opportunities and boost the indigenous military industry. The aircraft is planned to be inducted into operational roles after 2030 and could potentially lead to the development of future generations of fighter jets in India.
