Trinh Thi Khong, a 119-year-old grandmother from Vietnam, is claiming to be the oldest person in the world, attributing her long life to her daily consumption of porridge. Efforts are being made to have her achievement officially recognized by the Guinness Book of Records.
Khong’s family describes her as normal unhealthy and she enjoys reminiscing about her past as a vendor to support her children. She currently lives with her daughter in Dong Nai and has a large family with 150 descendants.
Recent reports of a South African woman who died at 128, previously believed to be the world’s oldest person, highlight the controversy surrounding age claims. Khong’s age, if verified, would surpass the current record holder, Maria Branyas Morera of France.
