The Canada Soccer governing body has announced the appointment of former Golf Canada chief sport officer Kevin Blue as its new chief executive and general secretary.
Blue replaces outgoing chief executive Alyson Walker, who stepped down in January this year due to personal circumstances. The consulting firm Korn Ferry handled Blue’s appointment process, and he brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles at Golf Canada, the University of California, and Stanford University.
Charmaine Crooks, president at Canada Soccer, expressed excitement about Blue’s leadership, stating that he will help steer the organization towards a brighter future for soccer in Canada. His appointment follows a period of turmoil for Canada Soccer, marked by a high-profile lawsuit involving the Canadian Soccer Players’ Association over media and sponsorship contracts.
Despite the challenges facing Canada Soccer, Blue remains optimistic about the organization’s future. With Canada set to co-host the 2026 FIFA World Cup, he is determined to rebuild trust and ensure that Canada Soccer thrives both domestically and internationally.
