Shirley Ann Selbe, 82, Remembered for Community Involvement and Family Love, US

Shirley Ann (Scott) Selbe, 82 of Warren passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Trumbull Regional Hospital with her loving family by her side.

Shirley was born on September 5, 1941, in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of Charles R. and Gertrude (Governor) Scott.

She was a 1959 graduate of Vienna High School and went on to work for the Trumbull County Welfare Office, retiring after 30 years as a supervisor.

Outside of work and besides being a proud homemaker, Shirley was very active in her community. She belonged to various organizations, including The Vienna Historical Society, The Vienna Alumni Association, The Women’s Guild at Warren General Hospital, The Trumbull County Women’s Republican Party, and The American Women’s Business Association, of which she was the former secretary.

Shirley was sociable and had a passion for learning about her family’s ancestry. She enjoyed shopping, looking at beautiful flowers, reading, doing crosswords, and she even took sailing lessons.

Most of all, she loved her family and cherished the time she spent with them. Shirley will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Shirley will always be remembered by her children, Robin (Waid) Vesia of Cortland and Mark (Amy) Waid of Cortland; grandchildren, Rachel (Mark) Cameron and Taylor, Brooke, and Mark Waid; great-grandson, Carter Cameron, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her brothers, Richard and Robert Scott; sister-in-law, Betty Jane Scott, and son-in-law, Victor Vesia.

Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Shirley on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel of Warren, 1884 North Road NE.

A Funeral Service will follow at the funeral home at 12 p.m.

Burial will follow at Crown Hill Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Shirley’s name to The American Heart Association.

A special thanks go out to Shirley’s caregivers, Beverly Griffith, and Heather Gump for their compassionate care and to Drs. Kwatra and Fredericka for their guidance and care for Shirley.
