Senior Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) MLA from Chhattisgarh, Vidyaratan Bhasin, passed away on June 23 at the age of 76. The MLA from Vaishali Nagar seat of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly had been ill for a long time and was receiving treatment at a private hospital in the state capital. However, he succumbed to his illness and passed away.
Bhasin was a two-time MLA and had once served as Mayor of Bhilai. Despite Congress’ wave in 2018, he successfully won the elections. Upon learning of his passing, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and other political figures expressed their condolences to his bereaved family.
Vidyaratan Bhasin lived a full life and a remarkable political career. As an active and influential member of the BJP, his passing is a great loss to his party and the legislative assembly.
