The Bajali district of Assam is facing a severe flood situation with nearly 2.61 lakh people affected in 196 villages. The floodwaters of the Pahumara River have submerged many villages in the Pathsala area. The situation is such that the Swahid Madan Rauta Sub-Divisional Civil Hospital in Pathsala has been submerged and all the patients have been shifted to other hospitals for treatment. Furthermore, the floodwaters have breached a large portion of the embankment at Medhikuchi village, washing away several houses.
The affected villagers are taking shelter on roads, embankments, and highlands. Reports suggest that the floodwaters have submerged 297.30 hectares of cropland in the Bajali district. In addition, the floodwaters have damaged a bridge in the Kumarikata area of Tamulpur, Assam.
The Kokrajhar district of Assam is also facing a similar situation with the floodwaters of the Madati River washing away a wooden bridge in the Gossaigaon area on Thursday.
