Two people are facing nearly 500 charges each after police found 90 animals in cages stacked from floor to ceiling inside a Pennsylvania home. The animals, including 90 dogs, eight cats, and a turtle, were reportedly malnourished, covered in feces, and urine. Four dogs were euthanized at the scene due to their conditions. The property owners, Nyal Barton Piper, 81, and Renee Lynn Piper, 62, are facing charges of animal cruelty, neglect, and aggravated assault of animals. The Pennsylvania State Police discovered the animals in the home in Bedford Township after responding to an animal cruelty report. Troopers noticed an overwhelming smell and multiple dogs inside. The animals were removed with the assistance of vets, animal rescues, and volunteers, with some receiving care at the Bedford County Humane Society.
