Delhi Police arrested a notorious thief wanted in connection with 20 criminal cases across the city. Manish Kalawat alias Kana, a resident of Sultanpuri and a native of Kotputli, Rajasthan, was apprehended from Dabri area of Delhi after being on the run for two years. According to the Delhi Police’s Crime Branch, Kalawat had become a proclaimed offender in three cases and had been operating in the Sultanpuri area. A trap was laid near Dabri Chowk, and he was apprehended soon after.
During the interrogation, Kalawat confessed to being inspired by the Bollywood movie ‘Dhoom’ and began snatching and stealing racing motorcycles without any hesitation. He has been involved in more than 20 cases of robbery, snatching, and theft. He had been hiding in Kotputli for a couple of years using a fake identity and only returned to Delhi after running out of money. However, the police arrested him before he could commit any fresh crime.
The Special Commissioner of Police (Crime), Ravindra Singh Yadav, stated that Kalawat was caught red-handed thanks to a specific input received by the Delhi Police’s Crime Branch. Kalawat’s arrest adds to the list of many history-sheeters in Delhi that have been caught using high-tech surveillance systems and dedicated police teams.
