Defense carries Hilton Head Prep boys in title matchup against Christian Academy
An old adage in almost any sport is that defense wins championships. Hilton Head Prep proved that Saturday afternoon in a dominating 35-15 victory over Christian Academy to win back-to-back SCISA Class 3A boys basketball state championships.
The Dolphins held the Saints scoreless for the final 14 minutes by utilizing an active zone. Despite a close contest in the third quarter, Hilton Head Prep unleashed a 19-0 run to secure their second consecutive title.
Head coach Richard Barron expressed his pride in the team’s accomplishment, highlighting the collective effort of both returning players and newcomers. The Dolphins displayed a dynamic shift in the third quarter, propelling them to victory after a slow start in the first half.
