The Congress party in Indore, Madhya Pradesh has planned to stage a protest against the state government on 26 June, in light of the alleged corruption in the construction of Mahakal Lok and the recent fire at Satpura Bhawan. The fire caused a loss of INR 20 crores to the public, and the files of ‘corruption’ were burnt along with it. Our campaign against the corrupt government of BJP will continue. We will also protest against inflation, corruption, and malpractice by the government, said Mahendra Joshi, City in-charge.
City Congress spokesperson Johar Manpurwala stated that a meeting for protest preparations was held on Thursday. Leader of Opposition in IMC, Chintu Chokse, announced that they will also stage a protest against the increase in taxes at the Municipal Corporation and the Mayor’s office on June 27.
In related news, Anshuman Shrivastava, the former deputy advocate general, has been appointed as the Executive President and states spokesperson of Congress’ Law and Human Rights department in Indore. This appointment has been made with the consent of Rajya Sabha members, Vivek Tankha, and Digvijaya Singh, on the recommendation of former Chief Minister Kamal Nath.
The Congress party has consistently been making allegations of corruption against the BJP government in the state. This protest is seen as a part of a continuing movement against the rising corruption that seems to have infested the administration in the state.
