HYDERABAD – Stating that the state govt was not imposing any power cuts in the state, chief minister A Revanth Reddy warned the discom officials that if any officer found responsible for power interruptions would face serious disciplinary action including suspension. He said though the power demand in the state is on the rise, the govt was not imposing any power shutdowns. The CM said some incidents came to his notice where some officials at the local level were responsible for power outages. It has come to my notice that some officials were conspiring to get a bad name for the state govt on the power supply situation in the state and resorting to false propaganda. Those will face serious consequences. Though the power supply situation was improved compared to previous govt, a smear campaign was launched against the Congress govt. It is the responsibility of the energy department officials to counter such false propaganda, the CM said while reviewing power supply positions in the state with energy department officials. TS Transco and Genco chairman and managing director Rizvi said power interruptions were reported in two to three sub-station limits and the problems were due to fluctuation in the power supplies. The CM said the govt had information that some field level staff, who were appointed during the previous govt, were trying to create problems in the power supply and get bad names.
He said consumers should be informed about the power interruptions due to maintenance works and other technical issues in advance. If there is a power interruption for more than five minutes, the local officers should review the reasons for power supply problems, he said. Officials informed the CM that arrangements have been made to supply power to meet the demand. Generally power demand goes up during Feb, March and April. From Feb 1 to 13, daily 264 million units (MU) of power was supplied against 242 MU last year. Last Jan, the power consumption was 230 MU and this year it was 243 MU, they explained.
