Perth breaks another weather record in sweaty heat
Perth’s dry heat usually offers relief during heatwaves, but on Wednesday, the city faced a new challenge with high humidity levels. The relative humidity soared to 74 per cent, marking a four-month high since October 22. Garden Island and Swanbourne experienced even higher humidity levels of 83 per cent and 88 per cent, respectively.
The city’s record-breaking February continued with several days hitting 40C, surpassing previous records. The Bureau of Meteorology warned that the unusual weather patterns were likely to persist, attributing the heatwaves to stalled troughs moving down from northern WA.
In contrast, WA’s North West braced for a possible category-one cyclone, as ex-cyclone Lincoln intensified offshore. Residents from Roebourne to Ningaloo were advised to prepare for cyclonic weather. The Perth forecast included rising temperatures through the week, peaking at 38C on Friday.
As Perth swelters under oppressive heat and soaring humidity, residents are advised to stay hydrated and seek shelter from the extreme conditions. Stay updated on weather alerts and take necessary precautions during this challenging period.
