A South Carolina lawmaker criticized Nikki Haley for her alleged support of Obama’s refugee resettlement program while she was governor.
In a recent clip, South Carolina state Rep. Stewart Jones, a Republican, called out Nikki Haley for her alleged support of Obama’s refugee resettlement program during her time as governor. He claimed that almost 10 years ago, he had to tell Haley to stop supporting the program through a county council resolution.
Following the Paris terrorist attacks in 2015, Haley specifically asked the State Department not to resettle Syrian refugees in South Carolina. This came after concerns were raised about the vetting process for refugees from conflict zones.
Despite her stance on Syrian refugees, Haley expressed support for the resettlement of refugees from other parts of the world, particularly those fleeing religious persecution. She acknowledged the efforts of organizations bringing refugees into South Carolina from areas like the Congo, Burma, Ukraine, and Iraq.
