The wife of the CEO of OceanGate, Wendy Rush, who was on an expedition to explore the wreckage of the Titanic, is believed to be related to Isidor and Ida Straus, two first-class passengers who died when the Titanic sank in 1912. Wendy’s husband, Stockton Rush, was piloting the submersible that disappeared while exploring the wreckage. Isidor Straus, a co-owner of Macy’s department store, and his wife refused to separate during the disaster, and their tragic love story became well known. Wendy is the descendant of their daughter, Minnie, and her husband Dr. Richard Weil. Wendy has participated in three OceanGate expeditions to the Titanic wreckage. As the search continues for the submersible that went missing, the US Coast Guard confirmed that a debris field has been found on the sea floor near the wreckage of the Titanic.
